- that would be spent is more valuable than the cost of a new ribbon.
- Furthermore, the company I work for sells printers and ribbons, (though
- not this type) and we strongly discourage the use of re-inkers. Re-inked
- ribbons tend to muck up printheads and shorten their life, and print
- quality suffers because the ribbon fabric itself becomes worn out.
- Despite this, I have several customers that insist on using re-inkers, and
- their maintenence costs are often noticeably higher on their high speed
- printers. Admittedly, the MPS-801 has never been accused of being high
- speed, but I believe the same principles apply. Whenever I have clean
- printheads or ribbon guides on one of these machines, I usually end up
- using 2 or 3 shop rags to clean up all the ink. There went your 4 square
- inches of landfill savings.
